Jan Silvious

Jan Silvious has been reaching out to women for over 20 years, helping them to think biblically, reason clearly, live fully, and embrace an intelligent attitude toward life.

As a featured speaker at Women of Faith arena events and Pre-Conferences, Jan has encouraged audiences across the country and within every denomination, challenging them to grow into the women God has called them to be.  She has been a plenary speaker for Precept Ministries' National Women’s Convention, Moody's Women's Conferences, Moody’s Founder’s Week, and Balancing the Demand’s of Life Women’s Conferences. Recently Jan and award-winning vocalist Babbie Mason teamed to offer “Big Girl—Big God” conferences to minister to the whole person—body, soul, and spirit.

In addition to her work with churches and women's organizations in the United States, Jan's speaking ministry has taken her to Canada, Europe, and Central America.

On the radio, Jan is a frequent guest on Moody Broadcasting’s “Midday Connection,” as well as other national call-in and interview shows. For five years she and Kay Arthur co-hosted the nationally broadcast call-in program, “Precept Live.”  In her earlier radio career, Jan produced her own short-feature radio program which aired in the southeastern United States.

Jan has also appeared on several television programs including James Robison’s “Life Today,”  “100 Huntley Street,” and Kay Arthur’s “Precepts  for Life.”

The author of ten books, two of Jan’s favorites have been reader favorites as well:  Big Girls Don’t Whine and Fool-proofing Your Life. The on-going reader response to these titles has spurred Jan to immerse herself in seeking out and finding biblically sound, psychologically positive answers for women’s challenges. Her latest book, Smart Girls Think Twice, was published in 2008.

Jan and Charlie Silvious married in 1966 and have three sons and five grandchildren. They reside near Chattanooga, TN.
