I want to invite you to pour a cup of steamy coffee into your favorite mug, sit a spell, and read this little ditty about what recently happened to me in the waiting room.

I have been in a painting project for just about 2 weeks now. My kitchen and dining room are getting a fresh coat of paint when I'm not helping kids with homework, making dinner,or running off to soccer games. Yesterday, my Grandma needed a driver to take her to the eye doctor. I knew this appointment was coming but my attitude was less than gracious because I have a very strict self-imposed deadline. (without this deadline, I would stretch this project out to months!)

On my way to get her, I just asked God to give me the grace to be in the moment with her and not to be worried about my painting deadline.

Whosh, peace came over me and I was so thankful. Soon, Grandma and I were sitting in the waiting room and she pulled out a "Daily Bread" that she brought for me to read while she was in with the doctor. I thought that was cute--she even highlighted things she thought would help me. I pulled out my Henri Nouwen book (that I am savoring like a piece of dark chocolate) and said I was going to read this instead.

After she went back to see the doctor, I began reading my decadent book. A beautiful lady walked by me and paused looking at my book cover. She asked how I was enjoying that title. She then went on to say how she has heard of Henri but hasn't read anything by him. We chatted for a few minutes about the author then she looked at me, studying me, and said that once we have faith it never leaves us. She said that our relationship with God changes throughout the years but we never loose our faith, it could be hidden but it is never gone.

She left, then walked back to me with a piece of paper. She copied down the book title. Without reservation, I told her about the Tie Us Together conference and she copied that down as well. I said that women over the age of 70 receive a complimentary lunch. She squealed out her age (which is over 70) which gave her husband a charge!

After that encounter, I thanked God for directing my path that afternoon to the doctor with Grandma. I thanked Him for giving me eternal eyes to have a lovely conversation with a heavenly sister. My Grandma was told she would have to return to the eye doctor again today. I quickly offered to take her back wondering who God will have me talk to this time.

Who will come across your path today? Are you operating with an eternal perspective, being open for God to move in your day or are your tasks causing tunnel vision?
